About Tetyana Haraschuk

Tetyana Haraschuk is an original with a sense of artistry in composition as well as in drumming. An expressive storyteller both in music and life, Tetyana crafts sounds that stretch your emotions with a range of attitudes from delicate to frightening. The “freaky alien” textures, melodies and rhythms ever-present in the music are inscribed on Haraschuk’s artistic dog-tag.

Born in Kyiv, Ukraine to Ukrainian/Cuban parents who taught her to be frugal, strong and hardworking, Tetyana’s morals stem from the kindness, honesty and perseverance that she was raised with. Immigrating to Winnipeg at the age of eight provided opportunities for her family to build a sustainable future in the more politically and economically stable country and awarded her the privilege of studying music.

As an inquisitive youngster, Tetyana plucked out notes on the guitar and tried sopilka, a wooden Ukrainian recorder. These casual musical encounters captivated her subconscious mind, resurfacing at age nine when Tetyana began taking piano lessons. She started playing drums at 11, simultaneously becoming interested in other instruments, songwriting and recording. Discovering jazz music in high school through her band teacher, she was encouraged to attend jazz camp where she met professor Quincy Davis. He and professor Jon Gordon became the pillars of her jazz education throughout the University of Manitoba Bachelor of Jazz Studies Program.

After receiving her Bachelor’s with gold honours, Tetyana immediately continued her studies overseas, graduating with a Master’s in Performance and Music Production from the Berklee College of Music in Valencia, Spain. She released her debut chamber jazz suite album in fall 2021. Tetyana is currently working to release multiple new projects, including a few vocal singles as well as an EP.
