"Exceptional singer…Challenging and engaging arrangements [...]" - Keith Ames, Musician Magazine (2007)
Inaugural Winner of the 2005 BWA Nina Simone Award in London, England, Adèle M. Wilding is a contemporary jazz vocalist whose performances and recordings showcase her gifts as composer and arranger. Her rich, soul inflected vocals, her original works and interpretations of jazz and pop standards have earned her recognition on both sides of the Atlantic.
Wilding has performed in fine venues, jazz worship series and festivals in Canada and the UK. She has toured Western Canada four times, appearing with several of the region's finest jazz, blues, gospel and soul artists. She has released five commercial products, including her Christmas cover of Bruce Cockburn's 'Shepherds' (2016), and 'pas de deux' (2020), an EP of original songs produced and recorded with esteemed Canadian jazz pianist/multi-instrumentalist, Miles Black. She has also served as Creative Director/Producer/Performer in fundraising and Canada 150 events on the West Coast.
In October 2017, Wilding premiered her acclaimed live music project, 'Caribbean & Blue' in North Burnaby, BC. 'Caribbean and & Blue' consists of original works and standards set to a fusion of contemporary jazz & Caribbean grooves. In November 2021, Wilding launched the 'Studio 3 Livestream Series', which she performs with leading jazz musicians from the Winnipeg music scene.
Born in England to British and Barbadian parents and educated in Canada, Europe and the UK, Wilding's musical training culminated in a Master of Arts in Music Education (UoL Institute of Education), and Diploma in Jazz and Popular Music Studies: Performance, Composition and Arranging (UoL Goldsmiths College).
