Mundane Problems is a four-piece jazz band that features Christopher Dunn (vocals), Evan Miles (piano), Josh Bonneteau (drums), and Sam Fournier (bass, vocals.) After just over a year of performing together, the group has already become a favourite of Winnipeg audiences. Previous crowds have called their show “jaw dropping,” saying it’s “some of the most fantastic communication, fun, unity, improv and musical intelligence I've seen on stage ever.”
Each performance is entirely new for the band, getting every musical and dramatic idea from the audience’s own mundane problems. Do you keep stubbing your toe in the same place? Are you annoyed by people who chew with their mouth open? Does the lettuce you buy for a salad always go bad before you get to eat it? Are these issues all too insignificant to be made into musical masterpieces. Absolutely not; the band will sing your worries away!
While the band has not been around for long in the entertainment world, its members certainly have. Each of its four performers are recent or soon-to-be graduates of the University of Manitoba Desautels Faculty of Music in either the Jazz Studies Program or Vocal Performance Program. With numerous scholarships and awards to their names, they bring a high level of performance to every show they play.
Some previous engagements by the group's members include performances with The TD Winnipeg International Jazz Festival, The Fort Garry Hotel, Mardi Jazz, The Women’s Musical Club of Winnipeg, The Winnipeg Jazz Orchestra, The Burton Cummings Theatre, Festival du Voyageur mainstage, Opera on the Avalon, Manitoba Opera, and Wonderbolt Circus.
