Jazz Winnipeg is looking for a dynamic marketing and communications specialist for the TD Winnipeg International Jazz Festival taking place June 17-22, 2025.
This is a full-time 6-month (26-week) contract position with possibility of extension. Compensation commensurate with experience. Start date: January 6, 2025.

About the role
The Marketing and Communications Manager will be responsible for planning, executing, analyzing, managing and reporting on multi-platform campaigns promoting ticketed concerts and festival events. You will be our advertising expert and will have your finger on the pulse with social media trends. You’ll be a whiz at creating content and working with our agency to achieve our communications goals. You’ll engage our sponsor and donors to meet their expectations and more! Experience marketing to diverse communities especially through a pop culture lens is an asset.
WHO YOU ARE:
You have a strong passion for live music, festivals, and creative marketing. You are confident and experienced in building marketing and branding strategies that drive audience engagement and attendance. You create content, are connected to the arts and pop culture and have a strong understanding of the local market and how to effectively manage ad spends. You are excited to be an ambassador for one of Winnipeg’s biggest music festivals!
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the development and execution of marketing and promotional plans. including identifying new advertising opportunities and collaborations to drive brand awareness and ticket sales.
Be the voice of Jazz Winnipeg across social media platforms, ensuring the brand and customer service needs are being met.
Create and execute social media and marketing campaigns for events.
Develop and manage email marketing and donor campaigns
Develop ad copy/content, create ad plans to appeal to specific demographics, and when required, assist with content creation and collaborate with ad agency to maximize impact.
Manage website updates and content uploads.
Responsible for post-show reporting to establish a base for key learnings, drive future campaigns and demonstrate ROI.
Manage delivery of sponsored content and logo inclusions including planning, execution, measurement, and reporting and proactively resolve any challenges with asset delivery ensuring sponsored marketing requirements and print deadlines are met.
Maintain ties to traditional media and PR opportunities
Actively participate in team meetings, discussions, and planning activities.
Community outreach as required
Other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills, Requirements:
3-5 years of related marketing experience in arts, tourism or non-profit sector.
Experience building multi-platform marketing plans from the ground-up with measurable success.
Process oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills. Must be able to work independently to achieve deadlines.
2-4 years experience in digital campaign management on channels including Instagram /Meta Ads, Google Ads, email marketing and content writing.
An eye for detail.
Content creation (i.e. Photoshop, basic video) an asset.
Knowledge of the Canadian music industry and international music festival landscape is considered an asset.
Deep knowledge of the analytics available on all social platforms and the ability to pull actionable insights out of the data.
History of marketing to a diversity of audiences
Strong connections to media, tastemakers, influencers, and all digital spaces where fans of Jazz Fest programming can be found are considered an asset.
Applicants must be energetic, positive, creative and able to deal with a wide variety of stakeholders including customers, volunteers, artist representatives, and more.
Experience within the ticketed event space is an asset.
Basic working knowledge (ability to learn quickly) of Squarespace, Google Docs, Mailchimp, Instagram Ads, and Google Analytics required. Photoshop considered a strong asset.
Ability to work long-hours in a fast-paced festival and outdoor event environment in June.
