Vancouver’s I M U R has become synonymous with bass-heavy beats and sultry vocals, and “is one of the raddest acts you’ll find out of Vancouver” (EARMILK). The electronic R&B trio’s eclectic mix of instrumental melodies and hip-hop production transcends genre and “induces true goosebumps” (All Things Go).
The band features vocalist/keyboardist Jenny Lea, producer/bassist/violinist Amine Bouzaher, and guitarist/producer Mikey J. Blige. Together they evoke the poignancy of heartache through sensual and melodic composition.
Since its inception in 2015, I M U R has played Shambhala Music Festival, World Ski & Snowboard Festival, Astral Harvest, Center of Gravity, Rifflandia and, most recently, the main stage of Bumbershoot Music Festival.
Their first EP, Slow Dive, landed them a #5 spot on Billboard’s Global Viral Spotify Chart. Singles from their sophomore album Little Death (2017) have been featured in ads by Patagonia and Lululemon, and on popular TV shows such as Wynona Earp and Workin’ Moms. In addition to receiving praise from Noisey, Exclaim!, Hiphop Canada, Beatroute Magazine, The Georgia Straight, IDOBI, and All Things Go, I M U Rwas nominated for a Western Canadian Music Award for Electronic Artist of the Year in 2017. The band released their latest album, Thirty33, in October 2018.
