Tragedy brought Connor & Cordelia’s musical partnership together and inspired them to create their debut album, Acceptance - a cathartic expression of friendship, love, loss, and acceptance. Produced by Juno nominee Larry Roy, Acceptance blends jazz, pop, and soul and features New York City’s Curtis Nowosad and Jon Gordon, Toronto’s Ismaila Alfa, Vancouver’s Darryl Havers and Winnipeg’s Julian Bradford, among others.

Connor Derraugh is a 2019 University of Manitoba Jazz Studies graduate with a double major in sax and piano. Connor has been featured in the 2018, 2019, 2022 and 2023 Winnipeg Jazz Festivals, Mardi Jazz, Music & Mavens, the Assiniboine Park’s Jazz in the Garden and Summer Concert series, and performs regularly with the Winnipeg Jazz Orchestra.

Singer/songwriter Cordelia Donovan grew up in Gimli and studied voice and classical percussion at the University of Brandon, before moving west to pursue a career in music. A powerhouse in the Vancouver music scene, Cordelia has performed across Canada with a variety of groups and recently released a new experimental pop project of original music.

In May 2023, Jazz Winnipeg presented the album launch of Connor & Cordelia’s Acceptance before a sold-out room at the Fort Garry Hotel. The concert opened with the mini-documentary Acceptance by filmmaker Ivan Hughes that tells the back story of Connor & Cordelia’s project and its dedication to their best friend/musician Cole Ediger.

While the album launch featured an 11-piece band, the 2024 Winnipeg Jazz Festival will be an intimate performance of piano and voice … and perhaps even a very special guest on guitar!
