Join us on November 2, Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), at the Planetarium for the unveiling of the Mariachi Ghosts’s new album, ‘Puro Dolor.’

Known for their stirring live show and dramatic sound, lead vocalist and guitarist Jorge Requena explains about the release date, “The Day of the Dead is a really culturally relevant day in Mexican culture. It is the day when we remember and honour those who have passed by spending time with their memory. Every year we try to host an event that teaches people to understand it and love it (as opposed to calling it simply ‘Mexican Halloween’). This year we honour the people who we lost during the making of the album. Four of our fathers passed on, and this music is for them as much as it is for us.”

“We'd love for people to bring pictures of their loved ones and a food item their loved ones enjoyed to share in our Day of the Dead offering,” Jorge explains. “It is a cultural part of this event that helps people share in each other's memories, sorrows and happiness all together.”

To add to the celebration, local favourite BMC Market will be in attendance - each ticket purchased includes three tacos!

‘Puro Dolor’ is the follow up to Mariachi Ghost’s 2013 self-titled debut, which went on to win the 2014 Western Canadian Music Award for “World Recording of the Year,” and climbed to the top of music charts across Canada.
