Dan Keding is a Canadian jazz guitarist, composer, and arranger, who has studied and performed in numerous cities around North America and Spain. With mid-20th century jazz music being his primary area of influence, Dan often plays and writes in the styles of Thelonious Monk and Wayne Shorter, but also takes direction from Brazilian, 20th century classical, and percussion-based music. In addition to writing for small jazz ensembles, Dan has also arranged for vocal jazz groups, choir, big band, and even small orchestra. His wide array of musical experiences allow for a unique and individualistic musical flavour both through composition and improvisation.
The Dan Keding Septet is comprised of current and former students from the Desautels Faculty of Music, all of whom bring their own compositions and arrangements to the table. All members perform regularly with local bands and professors from the University of Manitoba in a variety of musical styles.
