Bridge Academy

For the past decade, students at Hugh John Macdonald school - in the heart of Winnipeg's inner-city - have promoted team-building, confidence and community through music. As members of The Bridge, students learn their instruments using a rhythm-first approach and the results are astounding. Bristling with energy, revelling in rhythmic surprise and embracing the adventure of each performance, The Bridge performs pop hits of yesterday and today alongside favourites as disparate and varied as the band itself, from Syria to Burundi to Peru. Under the direction of saxophonist Neil Watson, and alongside some of the city's top jazz artists, The Bridge is thrilled to perform as part of The Jazz Winnipeg Festival.
