Born in Winnipeg and merging the talents of 10 local musicians, Apollo Suns has created an innovative sound combining instrumental jazz, rock, and psychedelic music.

Apollo Suns began in 2016 with Ed Durochers (guitar) and Dave Guenettes (bass). Consciously heading in a new sonic direction from that of their previous band, Electric Soul, they quickly picked up Ethan McKibben (drums), Anatol Rennie (keyboards), Phil Collins (trumpet), Erika Einarson (percussion), Anna Blackmore (bari sax), Anthony Bryson (trombone), and Aaron Bartel (alto sax) to accompany and form the core of the band.

Built on the strength of several Canadian tours supporting their 2017 debut EP, Each Day a Different Sun, the album spent seven weeks on Earshot’s National Top 50 charts, with its top spot at #15. Some of their most notable shows include support slots for The Brooks, Anomalie, Five Alarm Funk, The Harpoonist & the Axe Murderer, Kobo Town, and Bend Sinister. They’ve performed at Canadian Music Week, Festival du Voyageur, Ness Creek Music Festival, Golden Sound Music Festival, Big Fun Festival, and the Winnipeg Fringe Festival. In 2018, Apollo Suns won a Western Canadian Music Award for Instrumental Artist of the Year.
