Karly Epp is a Canadian-born, New York-based jazz vocalist who draws listeners into a mesmerizing world that reveals the power of nuance and the subtlety of music. Her rhythmic confidence and improvisational prowess stem from a genuine love of straight-ahead jazz, drawing inspiration from such artists as Sarah Vaughan and Shirley Horn. Equally important is her sense of emotional vulnerability and unaffected delivery—an aesthetic movement led by her teacher and mentor, Grammy-nominated vocalist Gretchen Parlato.
In the spring of 2015, Epp was accepted into the prestigious Manhattan School of Music’s Graduate Jazz Studies Program, fulfilling her vision to devote herself wholeheartedly to the study of her craft. Studying with all three Grammy-nominated vocal artists on faculty—Gretchen Parlato, Kate McGarry, and Theo Bleckmann—she performs monthly at the historic 55 Bar in New York City, and regularly throughout the city with her quartet.
