Mira Black uses elements from many diverse genres to please her audience. This versatile performer is complimented by a soulful, emotive, five octave range which brings elements of jazz, funk, pop and world rhythms into an accessible and contemporary forum. With nearly 20 years as a professional musician, Mira uses her experience as a performer and touring musician as well as her degree in Psychology and 15 years experience as a Youth Care worker, to give you a new musical about the human condition.
This workshop performance will showcase original compositions created for a new musical by Mira Black called “Lush Life”; a cautionary tale of the struggle between art and economics, risk and security, dreams and safety nets. Mira Black will narrate her original play and sing the compositions written for four characters, while the remainder of characters from the play, a jazz quartet, performs original jazz compositions and arrangements of jazz standards found within the story.
