JODIE BORLE
SUNDAY, JUNE 27 • 9 PM
LE GARAGE CAFÉ
Club Pass and Wristband venue
Individual show ticket: $12 adv./$15 door
Like a cool cosmopolitan on a hot summer day, Jodie Borle’s vocals are smooth and clear, fresh and sexy and they hit the spot. She has Ella Fitzgerald’s vocal stylings mixed with Jann Arden’s wit and on-stage personality. If you have not yet caught this singer live in concert, you will not be disappointed!
Educated in the art of the jazz standard as a professional jazz singer for 14 years, Jodie has successfully fused a traditional jazz sound with other musical genres to create the fresh sound found on both her albums. Expect to hear the new, hybrid style of Norah Jones or Michael Bublé, as well as the traditional jazz phrasing and improvisation of Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan and Mel Tormé.
Jodie’s impressive debut, And Then I Did, showcased Borle’s sultry, powerful pipes and innovative arrangements. The album was released to critical and popular acclaim, and prompted Jodie to release her sophomore album, Snow, a collection of 11 holiday songs, a year later.
Jodie Borle’s irresistible, funky, and heavily pop-infused spin on jazz has drawn inevitable comparisons to countrywoman Diana Krall, and for good reason. Young Ms. Borle’s quest to expand the jazz songbook has the same potential to reach a broader audience as her famous contemporary.
On the strength of her first single, “Round,” Jodie has received an unprecedented amount of airplay for an independent artist. Heard daily on jazz radio, she continues to receive praise from the media and her peers whenever she takes the stage. Whether she is channeling Ella Fitzgerald through interpretations of the great American songbook or offering sophisticated, relaxing renditions of popular songs on her album And Then I Did, Jodie proves she is equally well versed in many musical styles.
