| Saxophonist and flutist Michel Paré is originally from Ste. Foy, a suburb of Quebec City. He studied at the Conservatoire de musique de Québec and the Université Laval, where he focused mainly on small ensembles, including vocal jazz groups, flute ensembles, and jazz sax quintet. He enrolled in the Canadian Forces in May 1986, and has played all over the world as a member of the Air Command Band based in Winnipeg. He was also part of the Royal 22e Régiment Band from 1992 to 1994. He plays with many smaller ensembles and also directs a dance group. His big band experience has brought him performances with well-known musicians such as Michel Legrand, Tito Puente, Céline Dion, and Rob McConnell. He was also a member of the contemporary François Morel flute ensemble, EMUL Jazz and Quazz. He has performed in concerts with the Winnipeg Jazz Orchestra and has been with the Ron Paley Big Band for 15 years. |
