THE PAUL DE GURSE QUARTET

FRIDAY, JUNE 17
NOON & 6 PM
OLD MARKET SQUARE • FREE

Paul De Gurse may be a new face on the Winnipeg jazz scene, but he is far from inexperienced. Since entering the University of Manitoba’s jazz studies program on piano in 2008, he has had the opportunity to play and study with the world-class faculty, as well as many fantastic local musicians.

Over the past couple of years he has performed regularly at the Prairie Ink Café, the Current Lounge, the Palm Lounge, and Aqua Books. He appeared at the 2010 dig! Magazine Rent Party as part of Jimmy Greene’s Lab Band, and has been a part of Steve Kirby’s Bridge Program at Hugh John McDonald School. He also manages to make appearances around town in his spare time as a musical theatre musician.

The Paul De Gurse Quartet first came together at the University of Manitoba’s jazz studies program. Paul De Gurse is joined by Lucas Sader on drums, Jessica Rodewald on bass, and Reggie San Miguel on flute. Their aim is to present exciting, original, inventive compositions and arrangements, merge jazz with rock and funk stylings, and pay tribute to the diverse artists who have influenced them.
