Dave Quanbury is a celebrated songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and the founding member of Twilight Hotel. With his band, Quanbury has toured North America and Europe, receiving two Juno nominations for his albums, Highway Prayer (2008) and When The Wolves Go Blind (2010). Touched by the devastation in New Orleans in 2009, Quanbury volunteered to rebuild a flood-ravaged house. There, he saw a street brass band that would inspire a new direction for his music and life. Armed with fresh songs and a positive energy, Quanbury formed the five-piece New Neighbourds band.
Featuring sousaphone, french horn, trumpet, drums, vocals, and electric guitar, the new group fuses the swagger of New Orleans with Quanbury’s distinctive moody guitar and characteristic songwriting. The band plays regularly in Austin and has a residency gig at The Eastside Showroom. Recently, Quanbury has relocated back to Winnipeg due to US immigration issues. Coping with the forced separation from his Austin-based wife, loneliness and longing serve as the inspiration for Quanbury’s upcoming album, out in 2017.
